Our Curriculum
The University of Louisville TaeKwonDo Club offers the following classes and is open to the general public.
Beginning
This class is offered to the student who has no prior or very little martial arts experience. Students are considered white belts in this class. The primary emphasis of this class is teaching the basic stances, blocking techniques and kicking techniques. Students will learn the techniques in a group setting. After a few weeks, students will move into the intermediate class.
Intermediate
This class is offered to those Taekwondo students who have successfully completed the Beginning class. Lower ranking students learn to build on the basic techniques taught in the beginning class. Intermediate students learn how to free spar or free fight in a one-on-one setting.
Advanced
For students who successfully complete the Intermediate class, advanced kicking and punching techniques are emphasized along with the reinforcement of the basic techniques. Higher ranking students begin to learn jumping and spinning techniques.
Self Defense
Students will learn practical self-defense techniques. These techniques are the logical application of various motions acquired from forms, free sparring, and fundamental movements taught in the beginning, intermediate and advanced classes. These techniques can be used against a sudden attack by an armed or unarmed opponent.
